Can you tell us a little bit about your background, including what led you to create The Beauty Statement?

Yeah, of course. Well, I have a bachelor degree in communication, so I love speaking and communicating with people, and a bachelor degree in personal image consulting. And I also have associate degree in business administration. But I’m from Mexico City and I moved to the States eight years ago. And I started to do personal image consulting things for women from Mexico or from the US, too. And I really enjoyed being connected with women, especially helping them how to look their best and how to put together outfits and as a personal shopper. And it was so funny because one of my clients in one of our sessions, she told me, “Why don’t you start a blog? I would be your number one reader.” And I was like, “Oh, no. I’m not sure.”

But then I had that in my mind and I started to explore that, the blog thing and everything. And I started to write a blog. At that time, it was The Fashion Statement. I was completely focused on fashion, but beauty has been my passion forever.

So that’s why I wanted to change the name. But I think that beauty as a whole, beauty includes fashion, the way you move, the way you project yourself or reflect yourself to the others. Yeah. That’s why I created The Beauty Statement. And I realized that women liked it. I received comments and feedback. Yeah. I’m so happy to have the opportunity to inspire women through my content.

You create a lot of content, and your videos are high quality. And you post on a very consistent basis. Do you have a team that helps you create all this content?

As I started to take this more serious, this is my full-time job. And of course, sometimes when I watch my videos from the beginning, I was like, “Oh, my gosh. What is this?” But right now, I try to get the best quality I can. And of course, I normally work with a photographer, with a filmmaker sometimes, sometimes with my phone. And especially because I’m from Mexico City and English is not my first language, I need to have someone to help me sometimes with some grammar things, because proofreading is very important. Yeah. I have a team behind all of this.

What have been some of your favorite brand collaborations to-date?

That’s not an easy question because I have worked with multiple beauty and fashion brands. But I would say, for example, I did a collaboration with Therapy, which is a beauty treatment, skincare treatment. And I love the treatment. I love the results. And I also work with L’Oreal Paris and Carmex because lip balm and all that stuff. So all of the things related to beauty. I mean, I really enjoyed every single collaboration because… And I need to say, I try to collaborate with brands that I feel attracted to, or I trust, or I’ve tried before. So I never promote a product that I haven’t tried before. Because for me, that trust with my audience is very important.

With all of the content you’re creating, how do you structure your average day, so you can accomplish all your goals and still have time for yourself?

For me, sometimes it’s chaotic because I have three kids. I mean, they are not little. I have a 21-year-old boy, then a 17-year-old girl, and 12-year-old boy. But I need to be present. I still need to help them get ready for school, especially my youngest son. So I mean, sometimes being your own boss, it’s very difficult because it requires more commitment and you need to have more discipline. So I try to schedule my content before, I would say, a week ago.

And for me, it’s a 24/7 thing. I’m always… If I’m not creating content, I’m thinking what is going to be my next blog post and try to engage with my audience. Yeah. It’s like a full-time job.

I believe it after looking at your site. You cover beauty, fashion and lifestyle. So what’s a favorite topic or two to write about?

Beauty. I’m so passionate about skincare, so I’m totally into skincare. And I think my mission is to help women to look their best, no matter what they do, no matter the role they play in life. Because I think, yeah, that can sound cheesy, but it’s true. Age is just a number. You can feel great and it doesn’t matter the age. Yeah. That’s very important for me to portray that message.

What are some goals you have for the remainder of 2022? And also, where can people find you online?

Well, yeah. For this year, I have a commitment. Video content, it’s getting super… Right now, I think it’s the most important thing, as you can see specifically, for example, Instagram. Images are important, but not video. Sure, video is very attractive right now.

So I try to get more knowledge about quality video. Sometimes I need to create content myself, most of the time with my phone. So it doesn’t matter. But I try to learn more and get more involved in the new ways and trends to create more, I mean, to create quality. Yeah. I think that will be my goal for this year, learn from the experts, the filming thing to create quality content myself.

Where else on social media can people find you?

Thebeautystatement.com, that’s my blog. And of course, I’m on Instagram, it’s @vaneberlin. It’s V-A-N-E Berlin. And TikTok, YouTube. Since I’m from Mexico City, I started my YouTube in Spanish to show proud of my nationality. And because I have a large audience from Mexico, and sometimes I get messages like, “Oh, why don’t you speak Spanish sometime in your videos?” So I decided to create a YouTube channel. I mean, I started five years ago with the YouTube channel, but I wasn’t really consistent. But last year, I tried to post more often and it’s growing. So I’m so happy for that. So my YouTube is Vanessa Berlin. Yeah. I’m literally everywhere. Yeah. Yeah, it’s @vaneberlin. I would appreciate if you guys check my content.
