Vanisha Evans is a musician, model and music education specialist. She is also a self proclaimed biggest fan of The Jacksons and the album “Destiny” is one of her favorites. On March 20, 2021, as a debut artist, she won 2nd place at the 2021 Lakewood Rising Stars Talent Show performing “Push Me Away”. Originally written by all of the Jackson brothers and sung solo by Michael Jackson, she chose this song to help push herself to live her aspirations as a performing musician. The arrangement performed was written by herself and learned by ear, and showcases her discovery of neo soul chords. Originally written for Tito on bass guitar, horns, percussion and sung by Michael, she wrote this arrangement for solo voice and piano. In addition to performing, modeling and music education, Vanisha is an arts administrator. She is also the mother of two amazing boys Dillon and Preston ages 6 1/2 and 4.
Vanisha enjoys making music, writing lead sheets to her favorite songs, cooking, art, meditation, and spending time with friends and family. She has performed as a clarinetist with the Rome Festival Orchestra and Opera and was one of twelve musicians selected to perform for the Claremont Clarinet Festival. She is a self taught musician and the first generation to go to college on a scholarship and earn a degree in music performance despite never having lessons or formal training. Her career has serviced students, leadership and empowerment, and has included teaching music in public schools, managing youth orchestras, and establishing a non-profit youth band for aspiring young musicians.
