Tali Rubinstein is a recorder player, singer and composer from Israel, currently based in California. Originally specializing in early music and later on delving into jazz and contemporary music, Tali has been challenging the boundaries of the recorder, creating a new sound which has placed her in the international spotlight.
Tali graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music in Boston (on a full-tuition scholarship) where she met multiple Grammy Award winning producer Javier Limón who has championed her work by fostering the creation of 2014’s Tal y Tali, a collaboration with pianist Tal Even-Tzur that highlighted her original thought and Hebraic roots; Tali also appeared as a featured guest on two flamenco-related projects (2013’s Promesas de Tierra and 2015’s Latin Grammy-winning Entre 20 Aguas: A la Música de Paco de Lucía); and serving as producer for her forthcoming album.
Tali was mentioned by Barack Obama in his Favorite Songs of 2018, and collaborated with world-renowned musicians, such as: Alejandro Sanz, Anat Cohen, Tomatito, Mariza, La Mala Rodríguez and Paco de Lucia's original band, as well as notable Israeli musicians: Idan Raichel, David Broza, Yoni Rechter, Emil Zrihan, and Dan Toren, to name a few. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and Birdland Jazz Club, and toured in over 15 countries. Tali performed as a soloist with the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and the Manila Symphony Orchestra, and was featured on Univision and Nickelodeon TV. In the fall of 2021, Tali will be recording a commissioned piece as a soloist with the Big Band Jazz Machine, written especially for her by celebrated film and TV composer Dan Raudler. Most recently (July 2021), Tali was featured in the latest issue of American jazz music magazine, the JazzTimes.
