My name is Sara and I am the former publisher/editor of the hyper-local e-newsletter, Macaroni Kid Chicago, and the national newsletter, Macaroni Kid Family Safety. I have 10 years of experience in the blogging/e-newsletter/social media world and I am an expert on family-friendly activities in the Chicago area and beyond.
In my role as Family Safety editor, I kept subscribers across the country in the know of current recalls, safety trends and helpful family tips as recommended by experts.
As a writer, I’ve been able to travel and review destinations and all they offer families by working with visitor’s bureaus, hotels, museums, and more. I also enjoy indulging my inner theatre nerd by going to the theatre as often as possible and sharing my reviews with my readers.
I have a degree in theatre from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX which led me to a career in non-profit arts venues and organizations in Texas, North Carolina & Nashville, TN.
Now I'm redirecting my life. The whole “lean in” movement never sat well with me. More power to the women who thrive leaning in, but the more I tried to lean in, the unhappier I got. So I’m leaning out. I’m going to focus on doing what I love and doing it well, instead of forcing myself to be the mom/wife/employee/boss I think I should be.
What do I love? Spending time with my family (1 handsome husband, 1 awesome son, 1 snuggly cat, 1 crazy kitten), travel, Disney (World & Land), the theatre and reading, just to name a few things.
What do I want to do more of? All of the above! I also want to shine a light on self-care for moms (including myself). Whether that’s regular massages, joining a gym or a book club, napping – whatever that looks like to you, let’s explore it together!
