Dr Ravindra Deshmukh, Architect-Higher Education Specialist
Varied experience in various fields of activity spanning over 45 years has helped developed an all
round personality and strategic thinking ability.
Industry
Worked for one year at Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee during 1974-75 as Senior
Research Fellow of CSIR. Then, he worked as first Junior Executive (Architecture) at BHEL Hardwar
and then as an Engineer Construction at BHEL R&D Facility, Hyderabad during 1975-1982. Design
Works: Factory Gate and Boundary Wall, Steel Melting Shop Office, Forge Office, Children’s Park,
Quarter for General Manager, Worker’s Housing; Insulation Laboratory, Canteen Solar AC, Windmill
project, Central Fountain, Researcher’s Housing, Estimation, Costing, Bill Payment, Facility
Management – Water Supply and Drainage
Education
Went abroad and joined as Faculty at University of Ife, Nigeria during 1982-86. He returned to
India and worked with Manipal Institute of Technology and thereafter in Manipal University for 22
years during 1987-2009. He was the Professor and Dean of Faculty of Architecture before leaving
Manipal.
He joined Dr. BN College of Architecture for Women, Pune in December 2009 and helped set up PhD
Research Centre of University of Pune at the College. He went on leave to become Director,
Symbiosis International University during 2013-14. He returned back to the College and continued
his research work and guiding 5-PhD students. He took up an assignment with Mangalayatan
University, Aligarh as Director, Institute of Architecture and Planning and also as Director, Quality
Assurance for the University. He was the Dean, College of Architecture and Design during Dec 2016-
July 2017. He is at present freelancing.

Quality Assurance
Worked on documentation for National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of
Mangalayatan University. Appointed Facilitator for NAAC and Director Quality Assurance for the
University. Prepared detailed reports related to all criteria of education, viz., Curriculum
Development; Teaching, Learning and Evaluation; Research, Development and Consultancy; Student
Support and Progression; Governance, Leadership and Management, and, Innovation and Best
Practices.
Dr Deshmukh has a YouTube Channel 'Ravindra Sir Deshmukh' to coach students of architecture and young architects.
