He is an economist and statistician, formerly worked with The Uganda Dialogue Arena as the Head of programs and with the YouLead Summit Consortium as the Summit Ambassador for Uganda in which he coordinated the consortium members (ActionAid International Uganda, WFD, Restless Development, Youthline Forum, Faraja Africa Foundation, IRI and the Uganda Youth Network among others) to raise funding for the summit delegates from Uganda.
Onesmus has previously worked with the World Bank country office in the communications department as a short temporary consultant after winning the #blog4dev essay contest in which he was contracted to organise, as the project officer and consultant, the Secondary School debates around the country in which he reached out to 100 secondary schools, the 10th Economic update and the refugees’ art exhibitions.
Onesmus has a three-year experience with work that spanned since campus first as a volunteer at The Uganda Dialogue Arena and then to Programs manager since march 2018. In his tenure at The Uganda Dialogue Arena, he used the art of debate, skills expos and creative arts reaching a network of at least 200 secondary schools and 40 tertiary institutions and universities with a head-on count of at least 50,000 directly or indirectly in the last 3 years in which they discussed pertinent issues and also improve on their ability to communicate.
He is accustomed to working in a multicultural environment as he has worked before with an international organisation. He also fond of travel since most of the work I have done has field work elements.
Onesmus is a good communicator both in speaking and writing. He has been a contributing author to the National Paper New vision online opinion and he is an award winning essayist.
He has also worked part-time with the Vision International Actors on the Fort Portal Kasese Road as a communications personnel and co-sociologist to report on the effects of the project on the community and he further believes that this experience makes him a good communicator.
Onesmus has won International Contests on Public speaking and communication at club level with the Ntinda Toastmasters and he believes he has the emotional intelligence, interpersonal and communication skills to help meeting innovation of dynamics. As a statistician, he is accustomed to using computer applications such as Microsoft word, excel, power point, SPSS, STATA, EVIEWS among others which he further believes are necessary especially in executing tasks.
Lastly, he believes in Learning, relearning and unlearning which helps to acclimate to the theory of change requirements.
