The saying, “You were born to do this” seems to fit perfectly regarding my career path to becoming an actor/entertainer. My “gift of gab” wasn’t always regarded as an asset. Especially, if you ask some of my childhood school teachers who believed that my constant yapping would get me nowhere, but here I am. Still talking and getting paid to do it.
Even as a child, I had a way of capturing a crowd’s attention. You could say I was the class clown, but I was more than just funny. If I wasn’t acting and doing impressions of movie characters, I was singing or turning flips. The more entertaining it was, the more fun I had. I was constantly chosen for leadership roles because of my ability to work a crowd. As I got older, I’d get in much more trouble than my peers for talking because I “influenced their moods and behaviors.” If I thought something was dumb, most others thought it was dumb and if I said it was cool, it was.
Entertaining those around me was second nature. However, the small town of Midwest City, Oklahoma was no place for that kind of career path and the opportunities were few and far between so I joined the Air Force and headed straight to California where I served honorably for 5 ½ years before medically retiring.
After my service, I refocused on using my personality and gift of gab to begin a career in multimedia communication and advertisement. I turned a radio internship into a social media management position. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies and grew my own social media following by posting about all the wild and fun events I was attending. I quickly caught the attention of businesses, marketers, photographers and film makers alike which started me down the path that I now know, I was truly destined for..
The life of an entertainer.
