When David graduated in 1979 from Meade Country High School located in Brandenburg, Kentucky, he never could have imagined what was in store for his life over the next 40 years. My how time flies!
The ride started at the University of Louisville where David graduated with his undergraduate degree and met his wife of 34 years, Lisa May Chenoweth. In 34 years, we have raised 5 kids and now enjoy the blessing of 5 grandkids. After graduating, David worked at U of L in the Admissions Office recruiting scholarship students. After two short years, life took the Baird family to Cincinnati, OH where David worked for Xerox Corporation. At that time, he also completed his MBA at Northern Kentucky University.
In 1994, David's church (where he served as Deacon), Lakeside Christian Church, approached him about working with a non-profit organization, Woodland Lakes Christian Camp, that was in a financial crisis. David & Lisa agreed to join God in the work He was doing at the camp and he left Xerox in 1995 to join WLCC. The Lakeside Christian Church elders ordained David to service in the Christian Church. After 5 years under David's leadership, WLCC had accomplished much including paying off its $500,000 debt, replacing the entire facilities electric infrastruture, and expanding its recreactional facilities. The camp's revenue stream grew for $200,000 / year to $750,000 / year.
That's when Southeast Christian Church came calling and asked David to help start a brand new camp, Country Lake Christian Retreat, in Henryville, Indiana. David worked for CLCR for 11 years creating a benchmark for the Christian camping industry. While at CLCR, David was an activie member of the Christian Camp Leaders Association and is a past Chairman of the Board.
But, the ride was far from over at this point. In the fall of 2010, David formed an investment company, the Chenoweth Baird Group, LLC where he currently serves as the Managing Member. That organizations charter was for the purpose of purchasing Jack's Complete Auto Care in Greenville, Indiana. In 2013 & 2016, Jack's was named the Indiana Dealer of the Year by American Tire Distributors.
It seems David wasn't busy enough because in the Fall of 2011, he began his stint as the Lecturer in Economics for Indiana University Southeast. It is here that David is able to enjoy his passion of teaching. In 2014, David received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the student organization, The National Society of Leadership and Success. In 2015, David was also nominated for the Distinquished Teaching Award for IU.
David and his wife started DIFJ, INC. (Doing it for Jesus), a ministry dedicated to training and equipping leaders for life. In June 2013, DIFJ finally received it's 501(c)3 designation from the IRS. This ministry is focused on joining God in the work He is already doing by Training and Equipping Leaders for Life. Most recently, the organization has been focused on helping individuals break the chains of addiction and putting their life back on a positive path.
Lastly, David created Chenoweth Baird Simulations , LLC with the purpose of buying into Beat the Market, an economic simulation learning tool. Wow!
