Melchor “Chock” P. Encabo is a professional Licensed Teacher and a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education major in Social Studies at City College of Manila (now Universidad de Manila) in 2000. He has completed his academic requirements and is currently writing his thesis for his Master of Arts in Education major in Educational Management at the De La Salle University – Dasmariñas Campus.
A few years ago, together with his wife, Princess Espiritu-Encabo, Chock started an events management company, MPExpress Events that specializes in lifestyle events such as Weddings, Birthdays, and Christmas Parties. Aside from that, they also design team-building activities for different companies and institutions. Also, he is presently connected to PAREF Southridge School as the Administrative Officer of the Afternoon Junior High School Unit. As part of Southridge, he was one of the teachers who pioneered the school’s International Relations Committee (IRC) that offers an International Exchange Program to their Senior High School students. He was also the team leader for the Social Studies of Southridge Teachers Reaching Out (STRO) program, wherein seven adopted public schools in Muntinlupa area received free seminar - training for their teachers.
He has also been very generous with his gifts for he has served as motivational and leadership speaker in various training and seminars on countless occasions.
Additionally, he is a content writer and Senior trainer for the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) for the Social Studies Curriculum Development of the K to 12 program. He has traveled to different regions in the country to train Junior high school teachers on curriculum development and 21st-century learning.
Furthermore, he was one of the teachers who crafted the learning module design for the Grade 7 Open High School Program of the Department of Education. He has also written a book on Asian History and Grade 5 Araling Panlipunan. He is also a content editor for a series of textbooks in one of the leading publishing houses in the country. He is also a YouTube content provider, with his growing channel, ChockTalks, he aims to help fellow teachers with his series of Teachers Helping Teachers videos.
Chock attributed his leadership and management skills to his training in Rotary. He has been part of the Rotary family since 1994. He was a member of the Interact Club of Jose Abad Santos then later became a member of the Rotaract Club of City College of Manila sponsored by the Rotary Club of Manila Metro. He later joined its sister club, the Rotaract Club of Manila Metro and became its Club President. Together with fellow officers and members, he led notable projects such as the Big Kuya Project, R2B or Rotaractors to be, S.I.K.A.P (or Sa Iyong Kamay And Pag-Asa) Project, S.I.G.A (or Simbolo ng Galing) project and Bag of Hope project.
Determined to share his talents and skills with fellow Rotaractors, he was elected as the District Rotaract Representative of District 3810 in RY 2007 – 2008 under the governorship of District GovernorPaco [link-omitted]ntinuedtoserveRotaractasthe2ndMDIOChairofPilipinasRotaract Multi-District Information Organization (MDIO) in RY 2008 - 2009. In that same year, he was selected to be part of the Group Study Exchange team bound to California, USA., District 5170.
shortly after his return from his GSE stint, he was inducted as the youngest member of the Rotary Club of Manila Metro in July 2009 under the Presidency of Peter Ngo and governorship of District Governor Connie Beltran. He was appointed as the club’s New Gen Director and spearheaded Camp Metro in 2014, a project specifically dedicated to the New Generation programs of RC Manila Metro. As a young Rotarian, he involved himself in different district seminars and activities, one of which was the Rotary Leadership Institute where he graduated Valedictorian in 2012 and became one of its youngest faculty members. He also supports the Rotary Foundation and became a Paul Harris Fellow.
As a young Rotarian, he continued to inspire the New Generation as he was often invited as an inspirational and resource speaker to different events such as District Training Assemblies, New Gen Conferences, District Conferences, Club Assemblies, Early Act / Interact Assemblies, PESETS and others.
In the latter part of 2014, together with fellow alumni of the Rotaract Club of Manila Metro, GSE, and some friends, they formed the Rotary Club of Metro Escolta under the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Manila Metro. The club was chartered on January 06, 2015, during the governorship of District Governor Edmund Aguilar. He served as its Charter President and World Class President in RY 2015 – 2016. During his term, the club launched several flagship projects such as P.B.A. or Project Batang Alerto, R.L.P or Rotaract Leadership Program, Wonder Pinay and T.E.A.C.H (or Teach. Empower. Advocate for Change). The club has also received several recognitions during his term including the Outstanding Rookie Club and Outstanding Rookie Club President for RY 2015 – 2016.
Because of his commitment and passion to serve the New Generation, he held several positions in District 3810 as the District Rotaract Chair for RY 2016 – 2017 and RY 2017 – 2018. Chair for Rotaract Professional Development in RY 2018 – 2019, Vice Chair for Youth Exchange Program and a member of the district training team headed by PDG Karen Tamayo in RY 2019 - 2020. Currently, he is serving the district as the District Rotaract Chair.
His most notable achievement so far is his appointment from past R.I. President Barry Rassin to serve
as a member of the Rotary International Rotaract – Interact committee for Rotary Year 2018 – 2019. This is a three-year appointment to serve Rotary International until the end of RY 2020 - 2021. He was once again appointed by R.I. President Mark Daniel Maloney to take part as a member of the ElevateRotaractTaskForceforRotaryYear2019 –2020.
Chock’s deep passion and commitment to uplift the drive and integrity of Rotary’s New Generation will carry on for as long as he can. He will continue to promote Rotary’s ideals and brand of action to the youth through his inspirational speeches, actions, and notable projects that would reflect Rotary’s motto of service above self.
