DR. ANGELA CELESTE MAY – BIOGRAPHY Dr. May is a musician, music educators, producer, composer, bandleader, recording artist, psychologist, college professor, author, consultant, public speaker, business owner, activist for civil rights, animal rights, women's rights, and care of the planet, and fair treatment for all, wife, and cat mom. As a professional musician since age twelve, she is a vocalist who also plays several instruments. She holds a degree in Voice Performance and is former Voice faculty at Marygrove College and Piano faculty in the Institute for Misic and Dance. She founded Celeste Productions, Inc, in 2004 and in 2010 created, produced, and hosted a radio and television show that highlighted Detroit musicians and entrepreneurs. Dr. May has been a private music teacher in her own studio for many years, founded a jazz trio and two bands who perform her original compositions in a variety of musical styles including Rock, World, Blues, Spirituals, Jazz, and R&B. In addition to the Detroit area, she has performed in Ireland, Russia, the Southern United States, and New York, released her first album in 2007 titled, NO LIMITS and her second album titled, REINTRODUCING THE LADY in 2017 ([link-omitted], Amazon, iTunes). A classically trained vocalist, she made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2017 and has appearwd on screen, radio, and in print multiple times in inteviews, and currently appears in the upcoming movies SOLOMON (2019 release), TRISTA (2019), and music videos that she has produced and co-directed. In addition, she plays violin and viola with the Violin Divas, and is a long time Board member and music coach for the Detroit Youth Choir, Golden Buzzer contestants on America's Got Talent. Aa a clinical, organizational, and forensic psychologist Dr. Angela Celeste May earned her Ph.D. in clinical, organizational, and forensic psychology from the Union Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio. At the age of thirty she was one of the youngest to do so in the university’s history. She co-founded and is Past President of the Metro Detroit Chapter of the Association of Black Psychologists, was a two-time National Diversity Delegate for the American Psychological Association, former forensic examiner for the Third Circuit Court, created the column, Phenomenal Michigan Woman, for the Michigan Women’s Forum Magazine, and authored the book, Freedom: What is the experience of living without negative, self-imposed limitations? May & Associates, Inc., a Board member of the Michigan Psychological Association Foundation, Advisory Counsel Chair for the Just Speak, Inc. Board, psychology faculty at Wayne County Community College District, and is a Dissertation Chair at the University of Phoenix School for Advanced Studies.
