Amir Baradaran is a decolonial Augmented Reality (AR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) artist, entrepreneur, and scholar who also teaches at Columbia University. He is the guest editor for the AI and Society Academic Journal and the founder of [link-omitted], a global platform to decolonize the future of artificial intelligence and art making. Baradaran’s public art installations have reached large international audiences and have been featured by BBC, Art in America, La Presse, ARTINFO, Euro-News, El Mundo, National Public Radio, and Forbes Magazine. Baradaran is the recipient of the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Residency, the Knight Arts Challenge, and the Canada Council for the Arts 150th Anniversary New Chapter Prize. With an extensive background in community organizing and arts-based research, Baradaran’s body of work and writing focuses on technological equity, non-linear immersive storytelling through Augmented Reality and artificial intelligence, heterotopian futurology, radical and queer subjectivity, and social justice.
