Miguel Barbas was born in Elvas, Alentejo, and has a degree in Civil Engineering from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He also has a postgraduate degree in Finance from Universidade Lusíada.
Nature lover, he followed the path of design in a more minimalist sense. In April 2006, at just 26 years of age, he founded SABRAB, a company dedicated to creating spaces for living, in harmony with each person's individuality, in which to develop and coordinate engineering, architectural, interior architecture and construction management projects .
From a residential area to healthcare, we have more than 500 projects supported and 345 built.
He worked on several important projects, such as the rehabilitation of Forte da Graça, in Elvas, Alentejo, which is the largest bastioned fortress in Europe, and the Santa Justa Elevator, in Lisbon.
At 41 years old, the atelier managed by Miguel Barbas has already won several awards, from a German Design Award 2019, an Iconic Award 2020, and three A'Design Award. In October 2020 the important Muse Design Award Gold was reinforced, with the interior architecture project of Clínica de Santa Madalena, in Cascais, and in 2021 it was again awarded the German Design Award 2022 and a Muse Design Award Gold with the interior decoration of an apartment in one of the most prestigious buildings in Porto, Aliados 107. Sabrab stands out for truly an integrated service service, since the architect, engineer and construction technicians are internal elements of Sabrab, which allows us to guarantee the quality of our projects, from their idealization to their execution.
In 2021, Sabrab had a 90% growth in turnover, having been one of the best since its creation, even though it was a year of pandemic.
For the year 2022 we already have a working card, some of which are special, namely a dental clinic on Avenida da Liberdade with 400 square meters, and several high-end houses, namely in Comporta, Herdade da Aroeira and Quinta da Marinha with a construction area of 1050 square meters, which we are working to become a perpetual architectural icon, in one of the most prestigious condominiums in the country.
Miguel Barbas is also a car lover and has a habit of participating in the national off-road championship at the wheel of a T4 category vehicle.
