Deriving motivation from the same soil as dirty-south legends 8Ball & MJG and Three 6 Mafia, Memphis-bred Young Trap has hustled his way to the sunsets of Los Angeles, CA. The tenacious independent rapper/C.E.O. has racked up close to 2 million video views and hundreds of thousands of streams with a “kill or die” spirit. Young Trap’s newest album, Hustle & Glow, was recorded in Los Angeles by Tommy Daugherty (Death Row, Tupac Makaveli Album) and is the fifth release from his founding label, Debonaire Music Group. The 11-track album boasts production from multi-platinum producers Drumma Boy (Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Future,) DMac Too Bangin (Lil Baby, Money Bagg Yo, Gunna,) Ayoo Meco (Snoop Dogg, The Game, Kid Ink, Mozzy) and features from decorated artists such as Too $hort and Boosie Badazz. Young Trap’s latest uptempo single, “My Ex feat. Boneyafterparty,” was produced by FD of Heat On Da Beat. The music video is an interpolation of the late 90’s cult-classic film, Baby Boy, depicting Young Trap stuntin’ on his ex with a dime-piece in a lime green Porsche 911 Turbo. “My Ex” video was shot by Lenny Coote in Pensacola, FL and Los Angeles, CA, and crossed nearly 500K streams in the first month of release. Young Trap escaped the teenage torment of a drug-addicted mother and absentee father by freestyling to the drawn-out instrumentals of Memphis rapper Playa Fly. As word spread of his flow, he was invited to join Da Ridaz in the studio for two albums produced by Drumma Boy. Having been forced to develop a mindset of entrepreneurship and skill for trouble, Young Trap decided to expand outside of the tough streets of Memphis. Landing in Atlanta, Young Trap released his debut album, Money Talks in 2010. Propelled by the buzz of three consecutive Debonaire Music mixtapes releases with local hits such as “The Cover Up” and “I Killed Yo Shit,” he quickly established himself as a relevant artist in the clubs and streets of the 1990’s hip hop mecca. The dancehall record “Dance With You” is a further testament to his artistic versatility. Young Trap has created waves with his four previous Hustle & Glow singles, “Fuck Love feat. Too $hort,” “Too Much Sauce,” “On My Belt” and “I’m a Dog.” All four music videos aired in rotation on BET Jams for months, simultaneously amassing four million views on [link-omitted] and hundreds of thousands of streams on Spotify. It’s only a matter of time before Young Trap breaks records with this heat.
