Uneek DaInsane, real name Unathi Mpotulo, is a South African rapper, songwriter and business owner, was born in Cape Town and has lived in several cities around the country. This female Hip Hop artist was born to parents Nonceba Mpotulo and Mahlubi Langalibalele. A former Cape Technikon student, started rapping at the age of 12 in the 90’s and and by the age of 14 had established herself as a rapper and acquired acclaim in the underground. She is currently part of a duo Informal with Moses, one of S.A’s best underground rappers.

Her Inspiration is said to have been taken from the likes of NWA, Tha Dogg Pound, Skeem Team, Mhz, Canibus, Rah Digga, etc. Uneek was the only female amongst four finalists of a nationwide search for the best rapper in South Africa and was clearly the 2nd favorite of all four. She was the second female to ever make it through to the finals of Sprite Uncontainable Search. Her hard flows and vocabulary surely tells a lot about her intellect and background. She has infiltrated Hip Hop circles in Durban, East London, Cape Town, Johannesburg, etc. Uneek was the only female called upon to perform at a show organized by the American label Rawkus Records at the Hilton, Durban in 2002. Uneek has shared the stage with the likes of Pharoah Monch, Talib Kweli, Reason, Tumi, Jean Grae, and her wish is to one day be part of Snowgoons. Even though she is strictly about hip hop, she was once approached and consigned to host shows for kwaito acts Trompies and Sharon Dee in 1995. It has been commonly said that she spits like a man, on which she always responds with much modesty. Uneek is a product of the old school, who never stopped growing lyrically and is clearly one of her kind. .
