In music, he has perfected his unique style of “call and response”, performing throughout New Orleans Bounce genre. MC Shakie wrote, co‐wrote, produced, and inspired several New Orleans bounce hits. Armed with the name and tagline “MC Shakie Make Em All Go Crazy,” he began releasing a series of mixtape releases, which became highly successful throughout the local scene. He has host‐ed, promoted and performed in several New Orleans bounce oriented shows becoming a true New Orleans icon. In November 2008, MC Shakie was incarcerated for being the ringleader of a counterfeit securities operation. While in prison he was raped and sold into sexual slavery. He believes he was targeted due to his open sexual orientation. He was sentenced to 10 years and was re‐leased in December 2017. Upon his release he was interviewed for an Op‐Doc by the New York Times regarding prison rape and remains a proponent for its end. MC Shakie wrote and published a novella which ranked #10 on Amazon LGBTQ short stories. He also starred in two stage plays testing both his acting chops and improvisational skills. Ever the reinventor, MC Shakie currently hosts a popular YouTube channel and has become a social media darling through his command of an Instagram live talk show, Tea at Three.
