Hello there. My name is Reena and I am the founder of Elle Muse, a journal curating lifestyle inspiration, opinions and news for women over 40 and X-Gen sisters. I created this an eloquent place for modern middle-aged women where we can share gratifying stories and relevant experiences, learn to live a stylish, well-rounded and informed life. Basically a journal sans-Kardashians yet welcoming to all women including baby sisters the Millennials! A bit more about me: I’ve always loved writing personal journals, which I hid well in my closet as a teen and adult. I found great refuge in documenting my personal journal and great satisfaction reading them years and years after. While in school, I loved writing and publishing editorial posts on the school board. When my family immigrated to Canada, I was nervous about attending university because it meant that I had to learn everything in English, which was my second language (Arabic was my first). It was a hard transition and it had a tremendous impact on my communication skills. However, over time, I was able to overcome the fear of speaking and writing in a different language, mind you I still have a bit of a foreign accent to-date. After graduating from university, my journey into the corporate world started in Toronto where I fully immersed myself in the marketing field. I’ve had the opportunity to work on exciting projects with major Canadian corporations. At one point in my career, I managed a couple of entertainment (TV) editorials publications, a thrilling experience for someone who loved this field. Yet after almost 20 years of experiencing the corporate world, the creative voice inside my head was craving for more. It was begging me to get out, to fly away and give. So finally, I quit my corporate job and took the risk of pushing my creative boundaries outside the comfort zone. That zone is called job security, income, and retirement. I spent months thinking, reading, and investigating my options in an attempt to figure out what I’m going to produce, to do, to give! It just was natural to finally set up a new online journal for women, especially my X-Gen sistas! Yes, I chose to speak with my own generation because we want a stronger digital voice and a presence. We, the X-Gen women are smart, stylish, ambitious and crave learning. We love to travel, we care about our families, we want a secure future, we want to openly discuss middle age, we want to grow our businesses and we desire to live healthy and meaningful lives. This is the Elle Muse philosophy and vision, a journal to empower women over 40 and a welcoming place for younger women to learn more about this amazing phase of our lives as middle-aged women.
