Who is RA Listeners welcoming RA unsKrypted into the spotlight, will sense a breath of fresh air as they experience his heartfelt, authentically raspy and crisp vocals as his songs comes alive with his ability to paint vivid pictures with his words. Influenced by vocalists and songwriters like David Ruffin, Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson and Ryan Leslie to name a few, he noticed a void in making timeless songs. Currently, dumbed down hooks and heavily auto tuned vocals dominate the airwaves. Singer, songwriter, producer and actor RA (born Rapheal Dejaughn Miller), will be like your favorite wine, something you have to savor. RA is committed to being "unsKrypted" which represents being true to you and being unrehearsed. Refusing to stay in "the box," RA also coined the word "unsKrypted" because of his diverse musical influence, which includes blue grass soul, rock, folk and r&b. "In a city where the tag line is Chicago Hates You, it always feels great to know that real music will get through the clutter and I am thrilled to bring to the world my experiences with great music and integrity." RA's testing ground is Chicago, IL where critics are vast and the origin of house, blues and soul music resides. Many breaking artists put in the groundwork well before their "Big Break" and RA is no exception. Being classically trained in vocal performance from Grammy board vocal coach, Lyndia Johnson, and coming from a family history of music including Grammy award winning producer, Maurice Joshua, RA has honed his craft to deliver precision. Already being signed to 2 independent recording contracts where RA felt creatively restricted, it served as a mini boot camp. Although his name may be new to you, from the age of 16, RA has already frequented the airwaves of Chicago's most popular radio stations from B96 to WGCI, starred in several hit plays throughout the Chicago land area including Raisin in the Sun and Larinda Brown's Favor Ain't Fair, performed on BET network and opened up for Montell Jordan, R Kelly's Public Announcement, Jeremih, and Paul Wall just to name a few. In every note RA sings, it is evident that his music targets the classy, independent, educated and sexually liberated woman. Although RA will be soft on the eyes and represent everything you can bring home to mom, do not be surprised by his sometimes-provocative lyrics that showcase the tapping into the sensuality of a woman, which he boasts to have mastered. The uprising of renaissance men such as Miguel, Kanye and Ryan Leslie has conditioned the radio's ear for real music. It is no coincidence that the word RA, stands for sunlight because real music is rising. RA will be one of music's rays of light and he is here to stay. Check his hit single “Submarine” at [link-omitted] Throughout his college journey attaining his BBA in Marketing and MBA in Marketing, RA acquired an obsession with philanthropy dedicated to impacted minority young men to improve their financial literacy, self-image and ability to lead through collaboration in a diverse world. What made RA in chronological order? From RA’s early days where he started a singing group at Markham skating rink in Chicago, sang in gospel choir under Mrs Paulette at Rich South High School and David Felton at New Faith Baptist church, through graduating college in the Quad Cities, he realized from the reaction of fans how he could to monetize his brand and passion gigging at college bars and selling Merchandise. As a marketing major at Augustana College I was obsessed with way’s to differentiate myself and realized the work you put in was what you got out. College life when Facebook first came out also showed him the power of word of mouth when you have a good product and the web as his single Breathe sold the most in Japan with minimal marketing. “People might not get all they work for in this world, but they must certainly work for all they get.” Was the next lesion RA would learn after his best friend and musical partner, Tony Logic died due to a gun wound which made him more urgent to work harder as no day is promised. After already opening up for Montell Jordan Jeremih , working with Public Announcements Feloney Davis, along with R kelly’s Honey Love producer Earl, RA signed to Gang Tackle a production company headed by former NFL legend Oliver Gibson who was also a former mentor to Kanye West. This deal, helped him understand what it meant to produce and record at an industry pace, how to politic with radio, the importance of traveling where RA was able to perform for Chaka Khan and connect with insiders in LA and what money could equate to with reaching the masses as his songs Cadillac featuring Wild Style of Crucial Conflict was in radio rotation and All You Need was in rotation. He was also building his brand with being Indy performing with live bands and being selective performing at specific venues such as wine bars and swanky lounges. Gang Tackle seemed like his break but you cannot pay for peace and happiness and his partnership fizzled due to conflicting interest. “Money backing was important to me but it was not everything and relationships mattered more and I try to keep focused on the things that really make me happy and just do those same things.” The pictures below were from 2010 during a trip to California during a time I call #startedfromthebottom. During this period, my trip to California made me realize that those who are willing to do what others are not willing to do become great. I met @mikeho_ who currently has won countless awards for directing @chrisbrownofficial video Planes and Automobiles @therealmaryjbligevideos @jbalvin and so much more. He was in a club shooting and photographing everyone for free at an industry beat contest and over 9 years later he is a giant in the game due to his obsession. This dude was so humble and such a hustler and I caught an opportunity to have photos before he took off. This made me reflect on my story. I started a singing group at @markhamskatesroller rink at 12 called Major Damage, went on to win the #royceglamourtalentshow shortly after. Classically trained with #grammyboard vocal director @mzlyndia the late Mrs Paulette from @richsouthhs in which I was voted into the chorus hall of fame and renown chorale director David Felton. I then started compiling songs with @[link-omitted]r who worked with Usher’s camp and @willie_taylor and @meekmillproducer @csick_ This progression made pressured situations seem easy because of my conditioning. This was 2017 where I had already been through artist boot camp being mentored by family members like @hulamahone of the #outherebrothers and producer of #summertime by @willsmith and #grammy award winning @mauricejoshua, 2 production contracts and now I felt with my son Teddy on the way, how could I combine all my knowledge to build a dynasty? A fateful meeting with my now DJ Jay Imani @soulsessionskingshowed me a dynasty could be created by giving people a lifestyle and not just music so I trailed him around the Chi as he moved crowds where no one wanted to leave and I would perform during breaks in the set. Being fresh off our @betperformance, @a_wayofficial joined the city circuit with me where we promoted our collab #nina The energy and fun during this time sparked my interest in event planning where +500 people would start to frequent my events which had unique attractions including live painting, comedy, catering companies having food tastings and my music served as product placement to add to our lifestyle. @smartdress styled for #americasnexttopmodel and gave me this look which I feel represented my feeling #boss #renaissanceman#lifestyle #class #mogul. My training as a future mogul would be complete.
