Monique English is a 24-year-old young girl. She released her first debut single Destination in April 2015. The producer is Laurenzo Davids of VMR Records in Cape Town. She also collaborated with a CT rapper Che-V, of which the single was trending on Goodhope FM’s top 30. Her music career started when she was in grade 3 and only 9 years old. Her school Tamariskia Primary School hosted a ‘pop idol’ competition which she won. Since then she performed at different occasions, such as weddings funerals, corporate gigs etc.
She shared the stage with several renowned artists with the likes of Stefan Ludik, Mafikizolo, Anthony Hamilton (USA). Our local artist, Desmond at Trey Songs concert in 2015, and worked on a few collaborations with KP Illest, NIA and Gazza, who had a number of nominations in the past NAMAs.
Some of her achievements includes winner of Battle of the Artists, Talent Quest Winner. She participated in SA Idols in February 2015, and went through to the 3rd round, where she couldn’t participate any further because she is not a SA citizen.
She also had her first appearance on live television (Whatagwan) and performed her single Destination, who was on the Africa Top 20 for 10 weeks and 2 weeks at number 1. She also talked about her experience on her first NAMA nomination with KP Illest on Jazz and Jealousy.
She released her second single Makes my Heart Go, 1st October 2015 which is co-written by KK (Maximillion Kadeen Kaoseb) and produced by K-Boss. Makes my Heart Go also the second week on Africa Top 20 (playing all over Africa).
She performed the renowned No One’s Laughing next to award winning artist, KP Illest, at the NAMAs 2016.
Monique was signed to DDR (Deal Done Record), with Antonio as her manager. She released her first album, “Since 1994”, in November 2016. She has worked with producers like Arrafath, Glo Solani. Etc.
She is also the main feature on the Award Winning Hip-Hop artist, N.I.A’s 2016 album called Change, where she features on 3 songs, Change, Broken Wings and The Prayer and on his recently released album as well, called The Inspiration where she featured on 2 songs called Can’t Let Go and Give My Life To You.
She also opened for the SA Idols 2015 Top 3 finalist, Rhema Varrie, on the 10th December 2016, at the United Stadium in Olympia.
She was nominated for 3 categories at the NAMAs 2017, which included Best RnB, Best Newcomer and Best Female Artist of the Year, of which she won and was awarded for the Best Female Artist of the Year. She was also part of the My Ongoma Album, which is a project including all Female Namibian Artists together.
Her first music video from her hit single, Work For It, from her album was released on her YouTube channel on the 6th of July 2017 and is also playing on local channels nation wide.

She has recently won Best Single at the NAMAs 2018, with her single, Does She Know, where her co-artist, Salvador features on.
Monique recently released her second music video, Red, on Youtube on 18 October 2019, which was directed by Reggie Films. She is currently busy working on her second album, named Red, which will be released on 30 November 2019. On the upcoming album Red, Monique has worked with producers namely ESB Music, Ali Jonker, Nautilus Studio and Luke Goliath from South Africa, who has produced for award winning artist Shekinah and the most trending South African Influencer/ Actress / Singer, Nadia Jaftha.
She is also featuring award winning artists, KP Illest and Jaleel. Also featuring on the album are two new upcoming artists, Space The Don and Alta Ouses.
Monique believes that when she sees or discovers talent, she always does everything she can, to give them the credit and exposure needed.
