Matt McMurray brings more than 25 years of experience in the automotive industry, including highly effective Executive Management as sole proprietor of two auto repair facilities grossing more than $4.0 million. Having set benchmarks in performance in the auto repair, tire, towing and auto body repair businesses, Matt is recognized by his peers and in his franchise network as an authority in the field. Matt has also successfully operated a retail auto sales business as an independent used car dealer for 10 years – and has personally consulted many other independent used car dealers on best practices in service department management and efficient operational setup for customer pay success.
Matt is skilled in turnaround management, operational improvement, and acceleration of well-running businesses. He focuses on “Culture and Engagement” to get the most out of his team members and to create a shared value system and common practices that support the mission and vision of the company. He is a hands-on leader working directly with his team members to develop strategic processes and programs to drive profitable and stable growth across the company.

President and Founder – Campus Collision Center Inc., DBA MAACO Collision Repair and Auto Painting; President and CEO – Campus Automotive Inc.; Managing Director – Newport Auto Plus LLC (Blacksburg, VA)
Matt built his first facility, Campus Automotive Inc., a full-service auto repair, tire, towing, and used car dealership, also from the ground up to a $2.5 million business in a little over four years. Campus Automotive employs more than 20 staff, a number that will increase as the business continues to grow.
Matt is sole owner and Principal of Campus Collision Center Inc., which operates under the MAACO franchise. Matt built this full-service auto paint and collision facility from the ground up to a $1.5 million collision center in 48 months. To support the Centers’ growth, Matt secured direct repair agreements with USAA, Met Life, Hanover, and The General. Matt also signed fleet contracts with Leaseplan, CEI, Enterprise Fleet Management, Fleet Response, Silver Rock (Carvana), and Wheels.
Finally, Matt is Director and sole managing member of a real estate holding company. Newport Auto Plus LLC owns the real estate and buildings out of which Campus Automotive Inc. and Campus Collision Center Inc. operate.
Prior to running his own businesses, Matt was Vice President CEXN, Inc., DBA Campus Exxon Service Center, also in Blacksburg, VA. This was a family business where Matt began working at age 15 and worked his way through various roles – Auto Technician, Tow Truck Driver, and eventually Manager and Vice President of the company.

As Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Independent Auto Dealer Association, Matt is part of the team that acts as liaison with the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate to address issues related to the Independent Auto Dealers in the State of Virginia. In his community, Matt is heavily involved with his church as well as many other local charities and nonprofits. Some of these include: The United Way of the NRV, The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Support Group, NRV Cares, VA Association of Rescue Squads, Warm Hearth Foundation, The Highland Ridge Rehab Center, The Pregnancy Resource Center of the NRV, The Intellectual Disabilities Agency of the NRV, The Brittany McCann Project, and Downtown Blacksburg, Inc.
Matt is also an active member of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. He and his team members participate in fundraising events and help to facilitate the Leadership NRV Program of Study. Matt supplies the materials at an event called Helping Hands though Gracelife Baptist Church where church members perform up to 60 free oil changes for people in need. Finally, Matt and his Company support local sports teams and Matt’s alma mater Virginia Tech, where Matt is an avid Hokie fan and is a Hokie Club Member.
