Marina Red is a zinester, blogger, musician, model, video director and songwriter from the UK.
Her career in performance started back in the early 1990s when she was just a teenager. She has played in various bands and been involved in both amateur and professional theatre on stage and working behind the scenes. She has worked on a variety of performances in the UK and Spain including professional panto at Crewe Lyceum, Street Theatre for Cuervo Teatro, has done both photographic and video modeling. She has also been the frontwoman of several bands and currently sings for The Dying Lights, for whom she has also directed, performed in and produced their two most recent promo videos . She also works as a session bassist for The Sin Eaters and has her own solo project Marina is Red Music, which has just recently been signed to the indie label Die Das Der.
As a zinester and blogger, she has created quite a buzz about her on the underground punk, riot grrrl, metal and music scenes around the globe facilitated by her knowledge of other languages including Spanish, French, Italian and a small amount of Chinese. She tirelessly crafts her work, not only using technology, but as a hands on artist too, often working into the late hours refining her skills and producing work that is interesting to read and aesthetically captivating.
Across the social networks, she has amounted a substantial following over the last 3 years. The blog and zine started as a side project to her MA dissertation in European Languages and Global Cultures which looked at the role of Spanish women in the underground punk scene.
In addition to all of her creative projects, Marina is a full-time English as a foreign language teacher and a Mum to two very cool children!
