Maria Penedo-Warren

Maria Penedo-Warren was born and raised in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She came to the United States at the age of 18 as an Au Pair for a family in Darien, CT. While she worked for this family, she attended school to learn English, took dance classes, learned the culture, and traveled. Although her plan was to stay in America only for the duration of the program, she met her husband, and to date they have been married for 13 years with two young children. In 2014, María earned her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Art Therapy with high honors. Her Psychology career started as a volunteer at a Sexual Assault Crisis Center, and doors have opened for her ever since. She’s always had a passion for helping people, especially women. In January 2015 her father was diagnosed with cancer and passed July 22, 2015. His illness and passing brought her to pursue her Health Coaching career and went back to school in 2016 at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York, New York. María also holds multiple certifications in health and fitness such as group fitness instructor, nutrition, smoking cessation, and counseling. She currently works as a Wellness Coordinator and Health Coach at Yale New Haven Health for the employees, and has her own health coaching business with Team Beachbody. Her mission is to empower women and their families to live a happy, healthy, and purposeful life.
