BIOGRAPHY
Wyre is no stranger to the entertainment industry. With a musical career spanning twenty years, Wyre says he has no intentions of slowing down any time soon. An accomplished singer, songwriter and producer, Wyre has been nominated and won numerous awards both at home in Kenya and within the African continent. Wyre is slowly marking his spot on the global scene by fusing Reggae & Dancehall with different genres of music, thus slowly crossing over to the international stages. His collaborations with several local and international artists, release of quality videos and nonstop hits has gained him a fan base worldwide.
As a member of the group Necessary Noise, Wyre and his group released two very successful albums that forever raised the bar for other musical groups in Kenya. Necessary Noise was formed in the latter part of 2000 and went on to release several hits such as “Kenyan girl Kenyan Boy” and “Bless My Room” that dominated the Kenyan musical scene for several years and for which they also garnered several awards. Necessary Noise later joined with Bebe Cool from Uganda to form the group “East African Bashment Crew” (EABC). EABC released one album together which had several hits such as “Fire” and “Combination”. The group also won several awards for their work.
As a solo artist, Wyre released his first solo album “Definition of a Lovechild” in 2006. The album was a sensational fusion of R&B and dancehall rhythms that relayed the musical message of Wyre’s soul. Wyre managed to compose and write all sixteen tracks on the album. He released videos for several of the singles on the album and this paid off handsomely as he received numerous support, requests and accolades not only on local radio and television stations but also on global charts such as MTV Base and Channel O Africa. Wyre has been and continues to be inspired as a musician by many great musicians who have fundamentally influenced who he is as an artist.
Wyre released his second album fittingly titled “10 Years Wiser” in 2010. The album managed to expose his diversified musical styles and influences. Wyre says he is greatly inspired by the musical work of Michael Jackson, Damian Marley, Ginuwine and Akon to mention but a few. His collaboration with several artists on the album’s original and remixed versions has catapulted Wyre to great levels in the music industry. He has collaborated with such artists as JB Maina from Kenya, P Square from Nigeria, Cecile, Alaine , Gramps Morgan & Peetah Morgan from the Grammy Award Winning Reggae group Morgan Heritage , to mention but a few. Singles such as “Uprising”, “She Say Dat” (featuring Cecile), “Sina Makosa” and “Mwanake” (featuring JB Maina) &” Nakupenda Pia “ (featuring Alaine) are just a few of the hits that Wyre released as singles after releasing the album 10 Years Wiser.
