A firm believer in the healthy body/mind connection, I am living proof that small incremental lifestyle changes can equal life-changing results. My name is Jouvenel Guerrier and I am a certified personal trainer, competitive body builder and Navy Veteran. I have turned my life around through fitness and welcome every opportunity to help others do the same!
I began competing on the bodybuilding stage in 2015 on the suggestion of a friend. During my first men’s physique competition, I took first prize in the Open Class, Master Class and Overall at the 2015 Muscle Contest Pacific USA. It was an unexpected victory that would forever validate the positive mindset philosophy that drives me today in both my personal and professional life: Conquering goals in the gym is the same as conquering goals in life. And building a fit body also includes building a mind capable of anything.
My most recent victories include two first place awards and an overall championship at the 2019 Night of Champions competition. But my journey to becoming a champion has included many challenges. After honorable discharge from the Navy in 2008, I experienced deep depression. Yearning to feel better, I turned to heavy drinking and hard partying. But my health suffered and what at first seemed like a few extra pounds quickly turned into a serious weight problem. When I began to notice that simple physical tasks took effort and climbing stairs left me breathless, I knew it was time to take action.
My first step towards change was to join a gym and start training—with the goal of losing just ten pounds. Ten pounds became twenty, then thirty. The physical and mental effects of regular exercise, healthy eating and self-care began to take hold. And before I knew it, I had lost 85 pounds. I felt great and my confidence soared in all aspect of life.
For me, helping clients achieve their health and fitness goals is incredibly rewarding. Fitness saved my life and I hope to share what I’ve learned with others who may be struggling. Working with my clients is like planting positive seeds—ones that will continue to grow as people pass the knowledge I teach on to their kids, friends and families.
