After being a school-based mentor, Jean de Dieu was promoted to a sector-based mentor. During this time, he contributed to designing training s and curriculum materials. He supported teachers in the area of preparing and delivering lessons effectively and efficiently. He helped teachers manage classes, and this resulted in passing national exams (by students). During his tenure, Jean de Dieu collaborated with different education stakeholders at the sector and district levels. He supported other school-based mentors to help teachers to guide and counsel, through a catch-up program, 20 girls who were poorly performing in class, which resulted in passing the national examination.
Moreover, he was promoted to a higher position at Inspire Educate and Empower Rwanda as Continuous Professional Development Advisor. He manages and empowers 30 Sector-Based Mentor Trainers and 118 School-Based Mentors on understanding and delivering the School-Based Mentoring Program and Learning through Play as a pedagogical approach for the delivery of learning outcomes in the context of the competence-based curriculum. He identifies and develops plans for implementing the highest impact initiatives.
He reduces school drop-out by training teachers on inclusive education and respond to teachers’ needs in the teaching process.
He liaises with district officials and education stakeholders in the district, sector, and school levels to build a strong working relationship.
For over 8 years working in the education sector, he developed the ability to explain complex concepts to audiences of different levels of experience and knowledge, detailed and results-oriented problem-solving, quick learning, organizational, planning and execution skills. Furthermore, he acquired and developed the ability to evaluate and assess and provide constructive feedback.
