Born and raised in Bayelsa, Benin and Lagos, Jay began his musical career as a Drummer and Keyboardist. At the age of 14 he started playing drums and gained interest in music production in 2012 and started working with various artists as a producer. His Real name Samuel Paul (born February 25, 1993), better known by his stage name JayPoppin is a music producer and recording artist from Nigeria. JayPoppin has produced multiple songs for several prominent artists throughout various music genres such as Trap, R&B, Reggae, Dancehall, AfroBeat and AfroPop. In 2016 he produced “Hottest Thing" for Afro fusion artist Squeeze Tarela that won the Best Reggae Artiste Of The Year for Hottest Thing at Akademia Music Award in Los Angeles, California. In 2019 he changed his name from JayPaulBeatz to JayPoppin and released his official single "Overtime" (Produced by P-Killz) and later released "Ride" with P-Killz (Produced by JayPoppin).
