Bio For as long as I can remember I would always find myself in the kitchen growing up. Whether making dinner with my grandmother Georgia Bell or baking desserts with my Sandra my mom. Through my father, a retired station chef for the City Of Miami Fire Rescue where he served for 26 years, I learned many life lessons of the department brotherhood. While a student at FIU I would find myself making Sunday dinner for my roommates. Now coming full circle I’ll never forget the first day “as a rookie” I had to cook for my station (Station 7) of the Orlando Fire Department, it was my second day on the job. Talking about being nervous, hearing the horror stories from my father of what happens to the new firefighters who make a bad dinner. I refused to be a statistic; so I just made a simple dinner of grilled chicken breast, yellow rice, black beans and a house salad. Well I didn’t kill anyone and I got a few compliments but I knew I could’ve done better. Over time, this task became a hobby, into a passion for which I love today. Emanuel Washington Jr. is your favorite firefighter chef. Born and raised in Miami, FL. Manny is no stranger to cooking; he has been cooking since the Age of 12 making desserts with his Mother Sandra. Learn to harness his skills of cooking from his father Emanuel Sr. who was also a Firefighter Chef in the City of Miami Fire Department for 26 years. Now Chef Manny FD is a Firefighter Chef for the City Of Orlando Fire Dept at “THE BIG HOUSE'' Station 1. Now he gets to light up your taste buds and leave your hunger in smoke!
