Daniel van der Walt

Daniel van der Walt is a young singer and composer from Cape Town
He recently graduated from UCT, with the privilege of being taught by some of South Africa’s finest musicians, including Monique Hellenberg , Amanda Tiffin & Nicky Schrire as Jazz Vocal tutors.
During his first year of studies at UCT, Daniel was selected for the UCT Jazz Voices (Jazz Vocal Ensemble), who won the 1st Jazz Prize at the Stellenbosch Ensemble Competition in 2016.
During his third year of Studies , Daniel was selected for the Artscape Youth program and was selected for the 2017 Standard Bank Youth Jazz Band.
During his 4th year of Studies , Daniel was selected for the 2018 Standard Bank Youth Jazz Band and Toured Johannesburg and Durban with “The New Age Offering”
He currently spends his time writing and experimenting with different styles and techniques to find unique ways to tell stories. Spurred on by the many talented musicians he has met along the way giving him complete writing freedom.
He is currently:
- Lead vocalist and director of his own band called, “ The Van der Walt Quartet “ which performs original music
- Vocalist with a Fusion-Jazz outfit called “The New Age Offering”
- Vocalist with the Standard Bank Youth Jazz Band of 2018
