With more than 2.3 million followers on TikTok (@chanegrobler) and 88 000 on Instagram (@chane_grobler18), Chané Grobler is not only one of the top ten biggest social media influencers in the country, but also a sought-after brand ambassador, fashionista and promoter. The acclaimed twenty-year-old content creator inspires fans to follow their dreams and make positive life choices by creating and publishing creative short-form videos. Being such a big role model and prominent public figure also made her a popular choice amongst businesses and brands to promote their products and services. Since joining TikTok in 2017, she has had the privilege of working with major brands like Cosmopolitan, Levi’s, Lamborghini, POPL, Warner Music, REVOLVE, Samsung, GHD and Netflix, to name but a few. One of her biggest career highlights was surpassing the two million mark on TikTok. “To me, it is not only about the followers. It is about being loved and supported by so many people and that so many people are invested and interested in what I am doing,” she explains. “I have met so many amazing people throughout the years that still play a major role in my life today and it is all thanks to TikTok for bringing people together!” In 2020 the local internet sensation was nominated for a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award in the Africa Social Media Star Category, alongside another South African, “Aunty Shamilla” – comedian Prev Reddy. Chané was born in Louis Trichardt and grew up in Pretoria, where she still lives today. After matriculating at Hoërskool Wonderboom in 2018, she enrolled to study Education at Aros College, but left in her second year when it became too difficult for her to balance her studies and responsibilities as social media influencer. When she saw [link-omitted] on Instagram, she wanted to find out what the hype was all about, so she downloaded it. When the app changed to TikTok, her videos started going viral. She suddenly found herself in the role of social media influencer and soon realised that people enjoy the content that she created. Since then, she never looked back. “It was never my plan to be an influencer and I always looked up to people that were. Today I am honoured to be an inspiration to many. Reading through my comments made me realise that my content made people smile and gave them hope and I want to continue doing that for as long as I possibly can,” she shares. “Being a TikTok influencer gives me the responsibility to keep posting content, keep my fans entertained, be a role model and set a good example.” This bubbly brunette describes herself as an outgoing and caring person, who enjoys spending time with her friends and family and has a soft spot for animals. She also loves creating content with her boyfriend and fellow-influencer, Roberto de Gouveia a.k.a. KingBerto (@k1ngbert0), with whom she shares a combined following of more than 3.3 million on TikTok and more than 133 000 on Instagram. ‘Robbiné’, as they are referred to by adoring fans, is also a popular choice for brands to promote couples-oriented products and services. Chané credits her mother, who raised her alone, as one of her biggest role models and says: “My mother is very invested in everything I do and makes sure I don’t get hurt or get involved in anything that could jeopardize my future. She is truly my best friend.” Just like any other public figure, she has had to learn to deal with a lot of criticism over the years and tries not to take other people’s opinions about her work too personally. “I am unapologetically myself. I don’t put up a front or pretend to be someone that I’m not,” Chané says. “I try not to give haters the satisfaction of showing them that their comments get to me and simply block and delete unwanted content.” She also reveals that she has recently been diagnosed with Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia Syndrome (IST) that causes iron deficiency, dizziness, shortness of breath, anxiety and more and is currently focussing on leading a healthy lifestyle. Chané Grobler believes in constantly challenging herself to step out of her comfort zone and wants to continue growing het platform and put it to good use. “I am all about spreading positivity and self-love and would like my pages to be a safe haven for fans after a long day. I want to inspire people to be better and to achieve their own goals in life,” she concludes. SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS: TikTok: [link-omitted] Instagram: @chane_grobler18 YouTube: [link-omitted]
