Byunghak Ahn

Ahn Byunghak is a graphic designer and artist who explores visual culture at the border of various fields. He majored in Visual Communication Design at Hongik University and the Royal College of Art in London. His works were introduced by Idea Magazine, Atlas of Graphic Design, and Sustain RCA. He also conducted Typojanchi 2017: 5th International Typography Biennale as a director. He teaches typography and graphic design as a professor of Visual Communication Design at Hongik University, running his studio, Corpus, keeping his interest in exhibitions and publications. 
The drifting fragments of articulated meaning developed by the overthrow of the promised semantic system create a continuous abstraction. Knowledge is a conceptualized form of thought, and it turns into abstraction only when it is extremely conceptualized. It comes back to reality and exists as an ambiguous trace in the system as a form of experience. What Ahn seeks to continuously explore through his work is a mark, trace, and experience that reside within the series of uncertainty and anonymity, finally looking for the meaning that penetrates all of these.
