speedometerThat's some serious marketing potential!

My name is Al Baker, and I'm the Penny Pincher; here's my story. In 2013, I was someone that was on top of the world. I had a booming business, and all was going amazingly well.

Fast forward 18 months and the company had fallen to its knees due to import changes made by the EU, which meant we could not import the goods we needed to trade profitably.

I had stupid amounts of personal guarantee debts being called in. I had bailiffs at the door and letter after letter dropping the letter box and no money. It was the most horrible time of my life, my mental health was decimated, and I had no idea what to do.

I took advice and hoped for the best, but ultimately, I had no choice and went bankrupt. It was the lowest point of my life but also a wake-up call regarding money and priorities.

The bankruptcy stopped all the business debt issues but meant that I had very little in the way of spare money coming in.

I began looking at ways to earn extra money and be more frugal with my money. I spent a lot of time finding ways to make and save a little extra money and set up my blog to help others struggling with finances, as information was hard to find.

I have an excellent understanding of how poverty affects your mental health and family relationships and a firm grasp of ways that someone can help turn things around and offer hints and tips to make life that bit easier, which I do my best to share with my followers/readers.

I tend to focus on ways that people can help their situation by looking outside the box to find side hustles and money-making opportunities, as well as helping to highlight opportunities for discounted or even free products, goods, services or activities to help stretch their budget, as well as offering money saving tips and ideas to help lower costs for a family, which these days are more important than ever!

My blog has over 47,000 registered users, and I have a growing social media presence.

My tips and experiences have been featured in several newspapers worldwide.

They have often been featured in The Sun, The Mirror, The Mail, The Express, the Metro and several other publications.

I've previously worked with brands involved in financial products, cashback, subscription food services and products for the home (ones that offer money-saving opportunities for the user). I am open to similar genres or collaboration or other relevant genres. I do not work with any gambling services or pharmaceutical-type products that make substantial health claims, such as 'will remove all your wrinkles' etc.

I've also taken part in several radio interviews, including the BBC and LBC Radio, and have been on several TV programmes, including live interviews on BBC South Today and GB News, plus have been featured on ITV Tonight and am due to air on Channel 5 in October 2022, on the 'Secrets Of The Supermarket show', which I filmed with Angellica Bell (From The Martin Lewis Show), and have recently filmed with the BBC for a new show which will be broadcast in Spring 2023.

I am engaged and have a 5-year-old boy and a 19-year-old daughter. I live in Aldershot in Hampshire, with my son and fiancee.

As well as enjoying my life as a blogger, I also work as an e-commerce manager and run an eCommerce store for a bathroom supply company, looking after the day-to-day running of the eCommerce platform and am in charge of SEO and promotional aspects of the business.
