My name is Samuel Millanzi. I joined Saint Catherine’s Special School in 2010 as a Bursar.

Prior to Saint Catherine’s School, I was the Accounts Clerk at Richard Keay P/L and the Accounts Clerk at Tovein Consultants. During my tenure at Michael Gelfand Clinic, I helped the company to computerize their books.

I learned at Foundation College, where I obtained a certificate in Computerized Bookkeeping. I currently live in Harare, Zimbabwe with my family. When I’m not keeping busy with work, you can find me at home.

Over the course of my 20+ year career, I’ve worked for companies such as Veterinary Services of Zimbabwe, Richard Keay P/L, Tovein Consultants P/L, Michael Gelfand Clinic and Greystone Park Primary School. In June 2010, I took on the Bursar role at Saint Catherine’s Special School to help in the financial books and administration issues.

Since joining Saint Catherine’s Special School, the most rewarding part has been to work with children who are mentally impaired.

My approach to work is largely inspired by Pastel 5.2, which you’ll find reflected in my work experience.

As a Bursar at Saint Catherine’s Special School, I am responsible for Computerized Bookkeeping, Receipting and Banking of all funds received, Maintaining of the Pettycash and Cashbooks, and Prepare books for Auditing and produce the draft accounts, while Saint Catherine’s mission is to provide the highest possible standards of comfort, care, education and training for the children with mental impairment, some of whom are orphaned, and some coming from poor socio- economic backgrounds. Saint Catherine’s Special School tap into learners strengths and accord them in house work experience as project participants assisting  in various departments such as  hostels, kitchen, laundry, classroom and garden and in turn they are given an allowances.

I have gained vast knowledge in working with children who are mentally impaired. It is at Saint Catherine’s Special School that I have learnt that “Disability doesn’t mean inability”. 

I have got an outstanding 20+ year track record of successful experience that includes 15+ year background in accounting of which I gained the following:

Computerized accounting - Cashbook, bank reconciliations, debtors, creditors, invoicing in pastel and creating company invoices in pastel 5.2, receipting of funds or revenue, extracting final accounts from pastel 5.2 systems

Administration – filing of documents, salaries on spreadsheets, payment of bills, collection of debts, banking and maintenance of registers.

Others – draft accounts, audit preparation and costing

My experience is backed up by a vast knowledge in Excel, MS Word, Pastel 5.2 and blogging.

I realized too late that relying on one source of income in a country with an unstable economy was not enough. I therefore joined network marketing businesses. I have not yet moved in higher ranks but hopes that very soon will retire from formal employment. I believe also that “Formal Education Will Make You a Living, and Self Education Will Make You a Fortune”. So I am currently studying all to do with Network Marketing Industry.
